The Rogue is fun! Portage around the dam in Rockford (stop for some ice cream!) and then run the chute by the old dam near Childsdale. Then depending on water levels, dodge the rocks on your way to the Grand.
Chain your bike near Fifth-Third Ballpark and then head to the put-in at 12 Mile Road - there is a parking lot near the Trail. Swap canoe for bike and cruise back to your vehicle on the White Pine Trail (or you could hike back).
About 14 miles of paddling / 10 miles biking.

Grand River - Grandville
A very quick down-and-back on the Grand River.
About 3 miles paddling / 3 miles hike back.

Flat River - North Country Trail
The Flat River is not always what the name suggests. There is actually a current not unlike most rivers this size in Michigan, but the Flat does not seem to fluctuate in size and speed like the Grand or Kalamazoo. A series of dams on the Flat River keep the flow pretty consistent.
Put-in is at the McPherson Street bridge where there is a parking lot for hikers and disc golf. There is one portage around a dam - keep to the right. Take-out is at the public boat launch next to the Lowell library with plenty of posts to choose from to chain up your water craft.
The hike back to your vehicle is entirely on the established, official route of the North Country Trail!
About 7 miles paddling / 7 miles hike back.

Yankee Springs
If you want to get a little taste of what a trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness would be like - try this one!
Five lakes, some streams, at least 2 portages. Big choppy water and some quiet calm water. This route has it all along with a hike on a portion of the established North Country Trail. Be sure to have a decent map especially of Gun Lake. It's bigger than you think and you might want to use your map & compass to shoot directly to your next point.
Put-in at the public boat launch on Baker Lake.
Take-out at the public boat launch on Long Lake and chain your craft to a tree. From the boat launch take the 2-track west a little till you see the "No Camping" sign and head straight north into the woods till you meet up with the Long Lake Trail. Take that trail until you meet up with the North Country Trail.
About 7 miles paddling / 4 miles hike back.
